Microneedling Instructions

Pre-Treatment:

  • Medications

    • If you have taken Accutane, please make sure it has been at least 3-6 months since your last dose

  • Skin Products

    • 48 hours before the procedure, avoid:

      • Retinoids

      • Topical antibiotics (including Benzoyl Peroxide)

      • Exfoliants (including AHA/BHA)

      • Hydroquinone

      • Any products that may irritate or dry your skin

  • Hair removal

    • No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis 5-7 days before or after the treatment

    • You may shave the day before your appointment, but do not shave on the day of the procedure

If you have a history of cold sores, please ask us about instructions.

Please inform your provider of any recent skin issues or sunburns.

Procedure Day:

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early with clean skin—no lotions, oils, makeup, sunscreens, deodorant, powders, or perfumes

  • We will take pre-treatment photos, have you complete a consent form, and answer any of your questions/concerns

    • If you are adding platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to your treatment, we will draw your blood during this time

  • The topical numbing ointment must be applied for at least 20 minutes on the treatment area.

    • If you arrive late, this does not allow an adequate amount of time for all the above protocols. If you need to cancel/reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.

POST-TREATMENT:

  • Wash your face thoroughly a few hours after treatment. Use lukewarm water to gently massage your face and remove any serum or debris

  • Due to your skin’s increased sensitivity, avoid the following for 12 hours after treatment:

    • Sunscreen

    • Vigorous exercise

    • Makeup products

  • Avoid alcohol based toners for 10-14 days.

  • Try to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 10 days if possible.

TREATMENT RECOVERY TIMELINE:

Day 1: Your skin may appear red. Severity varies based on treatment intensity and individual healing characteristics.

Day 2: A red/pink hue will persist, similar to a moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more noticeable in the morning

Day 3: Skin may return to a normal color as swelling subsides

Gentle care is recommended during this time. After 2-3 days, you may restart regular skin care products when comfortable.
