Televisit Instructions

Here are detailed instructions on doing a televisit (virtual visit) with our physicians. Feel free to send us a message if you have any questions or if you are interested in scheduling a virtual visit. All medication refills, acne follow-ups, and accutane visits are strongly encouraged to choose this option during the COVID-19 pandemic. New patients or follow-up patients with new rashes or other concerns that do not need to be seen in person can also choose this option. The physician will let you know if it is better to come in person for a visit after discussing the condition with you. Skin cancer screenings unfortunately cannot be performed this way, and we are still available for these in-person in the office.

TELEVISIT PREPARATION

We will need good quality photos and some information before we speak with you. Please perform all of the following steps prior to your televisit. You will have to log in to your Klara account (direct messaging) to send us this information. There should be a “Message us now” button on the bottom of this website, or use this link to enter your cell phone number to get started.

Step 1: Answer the following questions in as much detail as possible (short phrases, sentences, paragraphs). What is the issue you are having? Where is it located? How long have you had it? What have you used to treat it in the past (names of medications and OTC products)? What has made it better, if anything? What has made it worse, if anything? How severe is your condition (mild, moderate, or severe)? Do you have any associated symptoms (fever, cough, joint aches, unintentional weight loss or gain, headaches)?

Step 2: Let us know if anything has changed in your medical history.

Step 3: Give us a current, detailed medication list.

Step 4: Please send updated pharmacy information.

Step 5: Take and upload pictures. Please use this video as a guideline (but ignore anything that it says about scheduling, using the Michigan Health portal, etc. as this video is from a different healthcare organization). If you would like, you can stop the video at 1 minute and 40 seconds. https://youtu.be/Ggh7JhKkntc

Step 6: Log in to the virtual waiting room at your scheduled time. Please don’t do this if you haven’t completed steps 1 through 5 and give yourself ample time to complete these prior to your visit. If you haven’t completed these steps, you will be asked to reschedule. Here is a link to the instructions on how to do a televisit. Make sure you are scheduled with the doctor so she knows to expect you. You may have a brief wait time of 15-30 minutes, but please stay checked in, and you should be free to do any other tasks while waiting. http://www.villagedermatologyhouston.com/televisit If you are having technical difficulties, you can try to troubleshoot, but if you are unable to get it solved, we are unfortunately not able to troubleshoot for you. Thank you for your understanding and patience!
